08-08-08 Since today is of great significance for many people in different ways I decided to use this post to address what it may mean to individuals from a global perspective. Did today have a significant impact on your state of wellness?

Today’s date is 08/08/08. Today is the opening ceremony for the olympic games. the games are being held in China. Here is some other interesting information regarding the number eight.

Those who were born with a Life Path of 8 were born for a life of leadership, are extremely ambitious and goal orientated. For instance if you were born today your Life Path is 8 i.e., 0+8+0+8+2+0+0+8=26. Then add 2+6=8.

Eight is seven plus one, representing regeneration and a new beginning.
Eight is the number after seven and before nine.

The Dharmachakra, a Buddhist symbol, has eight spokes which resemble the wheel that guided ships.
The Buddha’s principal teaching — the Four Noble Truths — as the Noble Eightfold Path.

There are eight basic knots in the Celtic-style, infinitely looping knot pattern which was used in decorating the Book of Kells during the 8th century.

Scorpio is the 8th astrological sign of the Zodiac. It is the symbol of Saturn.
The colors that harmonize with the number 8 vibration are: indigo, all shades of brown, dark green and navy blue.
The number 8 represents wisdom, learning through experience, stability, patience and responsibility. The wheel that guides a ship has eight spokes.

The number 8 is also considered by some individuals to be a number of financial security, caution, restriction, self-discipline, and self-control.

Is your birthday today? If so, Happy Birthday! Your Life Path is 8.
What does #8 symbolize for you? How did today affect your state of well-being? Leave your comments regarding number eight. Subscribe to the Lifestyle Wellness Coach blog!

-Never underestimate the importance of having fun. I’m dying and I’m having fun. And I’m going to keep having fun every day because there’s no other way to play it.

-Experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted.

-No one is pure evil. Find the best in everybody. Wait long enough and people will surprise and impress you.

-Brick walls are there for a reason. They are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. The brick walls are there to stop people who don’t want it badly enough.

-It is not about achieving your dreams but living your life. If you lead your life the right way, the karma will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you.

-We can’t change the cards we’re dealt, just how we play the hand. If I’m not as depressed as you think I should be, I’m sorry to disappoint you.

Over the last three days it has been very hot here (New York City). Temperatures soared to 96+ degrees with a heat index over 100 degrees. I was long overdue for putting all the cold weather clothing away. In the process of completing this task, I realized there were many pieces of clothing I had not worn and others I had worn repeatedly. You know what I mean. Like the comfortable shoes we continue to wear long after ‘they’ve seen their days’.

I realized that wearing the same clothing was not so much about comfort as it was about choice. It was easier to the wear the same outfits because I didn’t have to make a choice. I can choose wellness but have great difficulty in choosing when I have, what I call, too many choices. My friends know that I become stressed, may develop a headache, become overwhelmed and will not shop in a store where I have to look through racks and racks of clothing.

Listen to Barry Schwartz as he addresses the topic of too many choices with great clarity here…Paradox of Choice.

Women in general and women business owners are constantly making choices….’work eight, sixteen or four-hour days or multi-task with the idea of accomplishing more. Yet, can’t recall half of what someone said because she was doing three things at once. Do you recognize the dis-stress being created by too many choices? Are you choosing wellness as a lifestyle? How are choices affecting your personal life, your health and your business? The benefits of choosing a wellness lifestyle include improvement in personal health and increased financial health and prosperity!

During my flight from California to New York on Sunday, the pilot announced he had to wait for feedback from the dispatcher before he would be able to tell us where we going to land. The plane had already been delayed at the airport! We were now more than an hour behind scheduled take-off because the plane wasn’t operating and mechanics attempted and finally made the necessary repairs.—>

The next announcement was about scores for various sports events. He gave a score for ‘the open’. I assumed he was talking about the U.S. Open golfing event. Later he announced Tiger Woods’ score (he said he didn’t know the other guys name or score and would get back to us on that). Lastly, he said there would be a playoff on Monday.

Monday, to my delight, I was surfing the ‘tele’ and Tiger Woods was playing against Mediate. I am not a golfing fan, yet, I was mesmerized by the intensity, concentration, mental toughness, and focus of Tiger Woods. I was watching someone in the flow and not consciously aware of surroundings. In addition, I was keenly aware of the pain he displayed in his facial expression. I didn’t know he had knee surgery in April. After winning the U. S. Open Tiger told the sports announcer that during the game he couldn’t let the fans down, although he was in pain. In essence, he was glad the game was over and was going to take time off from the game.

The take away lesson for me is, we are fundamentally responsible for our own health. Wellness is a choice. The choice is ours to make. He gave his full attention to what he wanted during the game and in so doing positive results were produced. He appeared to be consciously aware of the Laws of the Universe and guided his thoughts and actions to manifest his desire to win. after the game, his awareness was focused on his health and well-being. All things taken into consideration, I understand when the sports world said this was his greatest game!

Have you been in the flow? Do you take full responsibility for your wellness? Wellness coaching is a plus during life transitions. Post your comments and subscribe to this blog for new posts.

Note: The curfew was extended and we landed at LaGuardia Airport.

Wellness is a holistic concept. The whole person is taken into consideration-the environment, body, mind and spirit.

Self esteem is a critical factor in the change process. Individuals have to care enough about themselves to take the necessary steps and make the changes needed to achieve optimal wellness

Positive peer norms encourage wellness lifestyle changes. In order to grow our businesses we surround ourselves with forward moving, proactive people who bring out our best.

Conscious living means becoming aware of all the choices we have and acting on them.

A sense of connectedness grounds us in our lives. Connectedness has made social networking Internet sites very successful.

We are primarily responsible for our health. Our health is our greatest asset, so why not put more energy into self-care instead of the maintenance of our cars.

Increased self-sufficiency gives the confidence and power that overshadows fear.

Time spent alone helps us to get to know ourselves better. We can meditate, quiet ourselves and the self-talk in our head to gain insight and contemplate the meaning of our lives.

You don’t have to be perfect to be well.

Play!
