Pangea DayBy now I’m sure you know I am a big fan of TED.  Not the Ted you know, but as in Technology, Entertainment, Design. On May 10, 2008 watch a TED wish come true. On Saturday, tomorrow,  join the world on Pangea Day — a celebration of the power of film to unite us.

You can watch the TED talk (contains graphic material) wish about world peace that was the catalyst for Pangea Day

HERE

Pangea is a global, 4 hour, film event that will be broadcast live via internet, mobile phones, television and digital cameras. Did I omit any ‘new’ technology? Countries around the world will be linked —- providing a glimpse of ourselves through others by means of film, spoken word and music.

Watch a group of Kenyans sing the national anthem of India

HERE

“Pangea Day taps the power of film to strengthen tolerance and compassion while uniting millions of people to build a better future.” TED

Languages include Arabic, English, French, German, Hindi, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Have a Pangea celebration with friends and family!!  Send me your comments and thoughts or simply let me know if you participated in the event.

Planting Trees for Planet Earth and Well-Being

Posted on 25 April 2008 by Johnetta Miner

Cherry Blossoms

NATIONAL ARBOR DAY is observed today in New York.  Arbor Day is celebrated to encourage tree planting and the care of trees in all states. In New York the last Thursday in April is designated as the day for the  tree planting and care. I know this is a difficult time of year for persons with allergies. However, they can enjoy the ‘fruits’ of labor at a later date.

New trees have been planted in my community and others have received care. The cherry blossom and magnolia trees are in full bloom.

This national day is very much in line with Earth Hour on March 29 and Earth Day on April 22, which impact the health and wellness of individuals, communities, cities, states and countries. This ripple effect is, indeed, is very positive! There are those of use who love the smell of  fresh, turned soil of the earth. My African violets are in full bloom now because I ‘cared’ for them.

Centenarians have an understanding of the connection of humanity with the earth and their well-being. Are you adding more years to your life by planting trees or caring for your house/outdoor plants?
