Changes In the Year 2009

Posted on 30 December 2008 by Johnetta Miner

ornamentsThe New Year is almost here and I’m still in deep thought,  generating my list of accomplishments for 2009. In addition, I have papers yet to be sorted, tossed and filed, complete the annual African American customs of my ancestors before the arrival of the New Year, reply to invitations, etc. One day remaining before ‘09 and I haven’t gotten to my Afro-Brazilan rituals. WOW! Nevertheless it’s all very exciting! Everything begins with changing ourselves. We can change our thoughts and the choices we make which will in turn have an impact on society at large.
In 1959 uneducated Tibetan women made a very educated decision and joined together to rebel in a non-violent manner against their captors. They made choices regarding their plight and the education of their children. Some of the women remained in Tibet while their children made the long journey throught the mountains into India. My choices are small in comparison. Just think, that was 1959!
Now here we are in the Century of Women. Globally, women are continuing to make great accomplishments in their lives and society. I foresee 2009 as being a year of great dialogue and building relationships-all starting with women. There is a feeling of  ‘change’ in the atmosphere and an undercurrent of buzzing.

Years ago, my family, the Miner’s had to have a dialogue with the Mason’s to build a positive relationship for the good of the community at large. We are a nation built on dialogue and relationships.
May your list of accomplishments for 2009 include more dialogue and building positive relationships within your family, circle of friends and in building your business. This can be one of your lifestyle changes  for 2009.

My wish for you is to have a healthy, prosperous, joyous and abundant New Year!

Celebrations of the Season

Celestial Bodies Celebration

shining brilliantly in the sky are Venus, Jupiter and a crescent Moon in a triangular formation creating a happy face. When I first saw the planets I thought Jupiter and Venus were the lights on an airplane then i notices the lights weren’t moving ant together they formed a triangular. Te brightness of the celestial bodies was outstanding. Later, I learned the will not reappear this close again until the year 2052.

Previously, I’ve written about me being a very seasonal person, which  is evidenced by varied bodily changes. Astrologically, Jupiter is my ruling planet, of the sign Sagittarius. Now what does the appearance of Jupiter, the Moon and Venus mean for me? I’ll need to ask the astrologist that question in order to earn the significance of their appearance and location as it relates to my life. Unfortunately I didn’t have my Flip to record the event!

Winter Solstice Celebration

Just as equally significant for some people is the Winter Solstice. December 21st is (more…)

Make the Right Lifestyle Behaviour Choice

Posted on 24 November 2008 by Johnetta Miner

Food For Thought

The Holiday Season is not always a happy time of the year. Many of the chronic disease symptoms are manifested during this time. the depression rate increases, people eat foods that are not good for their bodies and blood sugar becomes elevated far above the normal level. Other people may have severe chest pains or nausea and have a resultant heart attack.   while others may decorate their homes with toxic scented candles or use toxic nail polish removers.

In a study published in 1993 in The Journal of the American Medical Association, researches concluded that the predominate causes of death in the United States were linked to non-genetic factors. In other words, lifestyle choices. These factors include eating too much of the foods that contributes to disease and death. It is well known that chronic diseases are not, simply a part of the aging process. Our lifestyle and our behavioral choices can prevent many chronic diseases.

What choices are you going to make for a healthier lifestyle? Let me know your thoughts on this subject. Twitter me and leave your comments below.
